Perceived child penalties and labor supply decisions

**Short Description:** Estimates of the child penalty on earnings are large and can explain a substantial share of existing earnings inequality between men and women. In this module, we elicit individual beliefs about the impact of parenthood on labor supply and earnings, information on planned and realized fertility choices, and social norms about labor division in the household. The data will allow us to study perceptions about child penalties and which factors predict individual beliefs about the impact of parenthood on labor market outcomes.

**Methodological Details:** Respondents were asked questions on their expected earnings and labor supply trajectories both in the scenario in which they do and the scenario in which they do not have children.
